Tetris® is the addictive puzzle game that started it all really. Created by Alexey Pajitnov way back in 1984, the game captures that most basic of puzzle-game motivations; to create order out of chaos.
Tetris was the product of Alexey’s computer programming experience and his love of puzzles.
Since then Tetris has became one of the most successful and recognizable video games, appearing on nearly every gaming platform available.

I’m an old Tetris fan but I’ve always had trouble getting a handle on the scoring system. Here’s how they explain it on the site:
The scoring system rewards advanced moves—a double line clear is worth much more than two single line clears, f.e.. Also, you will earn more points per move depending on your level. To mover forward a level you must clear five times the number of lines of your present level. For example, to advance past level 1 you must clear 5 lines, and to advance past level 3 you must clear the 15 lines.
However, certain moves are worth more than the raw number of lines they clear: A T-Spin Single, despite only clearing one line, will count toward level advancement as if you had cleared eight lines, for example.
